Tamil Nadu Genomic & Climate Health Mission (TNGCHM)
Converging BGI Group's population genomics with the Prana MSR AI engine to protect the BPL population in Tamil Nadu from climate-linked metabolic, respiratory, and vector-borne diseases.
Core Scientific & Technology Modules
- BGI DNBSEQ™ DNA Sequencing: Low-cost, high-accuracy population-scale genomics utilizing DNA Nanoballs on patterned arrays.
- Polygenic Risk Scoring (PRS): Quantifying lifetime genetic susceptibility for cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and cancer.
- Pharmacogenomics (PGx): Tailoring drug dosage for NCDs, TB, and HIV to eliminate medication toxicity and side effects.
- Prana MSR AI Longitudinal Health Record: Merging clinical screening data, environmental air quality (PM2.5) / temperature feeds, and genetic risk profiles into a unified care engine.
Implementation & Cost Outcomes
- Phase 1 District Pilot: Testing 1,10,000 high-risk individuals in Chennai, Coimbatore, and Ramanathapuram.
- Blended Funding Model: Co-financed by World Bank TNHSRP loans ($287M loan component), NHM flexi-pools (~₹1,792–2,192 Cr), and State budgets.
- Cumulative Exchequer Savings: ₹1,200 Crore saved in tertiary care outlays over 10 years through active prevention.
- Geopolitical Safeguards: 100% data localization in state data centers, independent ethics boards, and DBT/ICMR security audits.
