Bovine Heritage, Welfare & Circular Bio-Economy Mission
Explore Tamil Nadu's flagship Cow Protection and Indigenous Breed Conservation Mission (TN-ICPM) under the vision of Hon'ble Chief Minister Thiru Joseph Vijay, transitioning dairy systems into a zero-waste circular bio-economy.
Core Pillars & Technology Integration
- Heritage Breed Conservation: Placing registered Kangayam, Umblachery, Bargur, and Pulikulam heifers with 25,000 rural SC/ST and marginal households.
- Smart Veterinary Care: Integrating geofenced GPS collars, intra-rumen boluses, and edge YOLO computer vision camera networks to eliminate highway cattle accidents and predict diseases like LSD and FMD.
- Circular Energy (HomeBiogas, YHR, Renergon):
Deploying HomeBiogas units (2-4 m³/day capacity) for domestic homes — fabricated and installed by certified TNSDC (Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation) technicians. Installing YHR GFS CSTR digesters (50-500 m³ capacity) for Goshala hubs, and Renergon dry fermentation batch garage boxes for high-solids stackable crop residues.
- Women Empowerment: Sourcing Goshala operations, bio-manure processing, and biogas distribution through Mahalir Thittam's 69.9-lakh-member Self-Help Group (SHG) cooperative network.
Financial & Climate Impact
Total 3-Year Capital Outlay: ₹32.00 Crore. Total Integrated Mission Budget: ₹158.49 Crore. Payback period for household biogas systems is 2 to 4 years, yielding significant exchequer savings by replacing imported commercial feed and fossil fuels.
Climate Benefits: Diverts 50,000 tonnes of crop residue from open burning and mitigates enteric methane emissions by 30% to 50% through bio-botanical feed additives like Ashwagandha and Neem.
