Approved Substation Siting & Tariffs
Building on existing TNERC approvals for 875 MW / 2,500 MWh state-led BESS procurement. - Model A (BOO Grid Toll): Developers lease substation land at ₹1/year, build containerized storage, and sign long-term Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreements (BESPA) with TANGEDCO.
- Model B (OPEX BESS-as-a-Service): Private developers install battery units on corporate premises (IT parks, banks, hospitals) under a 10-year Energy-as-a-Service contract, saving 75% on power backup with zero upfront capital outlay.
- Model C (Government-Owned, Privately Operated): Used for critical municipal, defense, and public healthcare networks financed through green bonds and operated by private O&M contractors.
- Model D (Community Microgrids): Local body partnerships deploy distributed storage at transformer level to reduce feeder losses and support daytime agricultural supply for farmers.
15-Year Implementation Roadmap
